This scheme strengthens scientific research capacity in low- and middle-income countries, by providing support for junior researchers to gain research experience and high-quality research training at Masters degree level. Research projects should be aimed at understanding and controlling diseases (either human or animal) of relevance to local, national or global health. We are particularly interested in requests for research training support in the social sciences, demography, health economics, medical statistics and vector biology.

 
Intermediate Fellowships for Researchers of All Nationalities

This scheme supports excellent scientists who wish to undertake high-quality research and to establish themselves as independent researchers in an academic institution in India. The total award for an Intermediate Fellowship typically amounts to INR 3.5 Crores. This includes the costs requested by the applicant as well as the set contributions by the India Alliance. Costs requested by the applicant must commensurate with their research proposal and should be fully justified in the full application. Inadequate justifications may result in costs being revised

 
Institution of Engineering and Technology Awards for PhD Studies

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is one of the world’s leading professional societies for the engineering and technology community, with more than 150,000 members in 127 countries and offices in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific. The IET offers a range of awards of up to £10,000 per annum for postgraduate students. Cancer Research Institute Student Training and Research in Tumor Immunology (STaRT) Grant

Through its Student Training and Research in Tumor Immunology (STaRT) Program, the Cancer Research Institute seeks to attract bright young minds to rewarding careers as cancer immunologists. STaRT Grants provide up to two years of support for graduate students conducting thesis research in the area of tumor immunology. A panel of scientists drawn from the Institute’s Scientific Advisory Council rigorously evaluates each candidate, the thesis advisor and training environment, and the nature and feasibility of their research.

 
NEW ZEALAND: Victoria Masters by Thesis and PhD Scholarships for International Students

Deadlines: 1 March, 1 July and 1 November

The Purpose of the Scholarship is to encourage postgraduate research, one objective being to build up strong research schools at the University, Victoria offers scholarships to support Masters and doctoral studies. These scholarships are awarded on academic merit and are open to students of all Nationalities in any discipline. Also, approval may be given for scholarship recipients to undertake paid employment (usually tutoring) for up to a maximum of 600 hours in any one calendar year

 
International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) Pre-Doctoral Fellowships

Deadline: March 31 annually

ICGEB Fellowship Programmes are open to nationals of ICGEB Member States only, who must submit their application to the ICGEB Liaison Officer in their country of origin for endorsement. The purpose of the award is to support researchers from member states in conducting research leading to a Ph.D. at an ICGEB lab in India or Italy

 
Paid Internship Opportunity with Equitas - International Centre for Human Rights Education

Deadline: February 12, 2012

Each year, Equitas organizes its 3-week, intensive International Human Rights Training Program (IHRTP) at John Abbott College in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, where approximately 130 human rights workers from over 60 countries come to gain knowledge, skills and strategies related to human rights education. The intern will be placed as a Coordination Assistant for the International Human Rights Training Program (IHRTP). The position entails a combination of the following responsibilities: logistical and administrative support prior to and during the program in June. The interns’ responsibilities include the organisation of social events, the preparation of the participants’ directory and the coordination of the rooms used by Equitas at the John Abbott College during the program.

 
Commonwealth/Chevening Scholarships for African Human Rights Advocates

Deadline: 30 March, 2012

Applications are being accepted for five new scholarships for human rights advocates from African Commonwealth countries to study for the part-time Master's in International Human Rights Law at the University of Oxford. The aim of the Master's programme is to train and support future leaders in the field of International Human Rights Law. The five scholarships provide fully-funded opportunities for the programme; the next intake will be September 2012. Applicants must be citizens of a developing African Commonwealth country, and will normally hold a law degree and or have extensive human-rights experience.
