Dissertation Fieldwork Grants are awarded to aid doctoral or thesis research. The program contributes to the Foundation's overall mission to support basic research in anthropology and to ensure that the discipline continues to be a source of vibrant and significant work that furthers our understanding of humanity's cultural and biological origins, development, and variation. The Foundation supports research that demonstrates a clear link to anthropological theory and debates, and promises to make a solid contribution to advancing these ideas.

 
2012-2013 POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS FOR RESEARCH IN ISLAMIC ARCHITECTURED

The Aga Khan Program for Islamic Architecture at MIT (AKPIA@MIT) is pleased to announce its postdoctoral fellowship program for the academic year 2012-2013. The fellowship program is intended for scholars with a Ph.D. in any field related to architecture including architectural, art, landscape, and urban history; design, technology, computation, urban planning, anthropology, and archeology, who are engaged in research on an Islamic topic.  Fellows are expected to pursue their own research, give at least one public lecture, submit a substantial report on their research at the end of their fellowship to be electronically published by AKPIA@MIT, and participate in the program's scholarly and academic activities during their stay at MIT

The Hewlett/IIE Dissertation Fellowship in Population, Reproductive Health, and Economic Development provides both financial and research development support for dissertations on topics that examine how population dynamics and family planning, and reproductive health influence economic development. This can include economic growth, poverty reduction, and equity. Dissertations that address population and development issues pertinent to the African continent are especially encouraged

 
UK: Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarships in the Humanities for International Students, 2012/2013

The University of Sheffield's Faculty of Arts and Humanities has been given a substantial grant to enhance postgraduate research, thanks to the Wolfson Foundation, a charity that awards grants to support and promote excellence in the fields of science and medicine, health, education, and the arts and humanities. The Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarships in the Humanities will be available in three disciplines - history, literature and languages. The scholarships will be awarded to outstanding students who demonstrate the potential to make an impact on one of these fields and to be future academic leaders. They will be awarded solely on merit to students aspiring to an academic career

 
China Scholarschip Council (CSC) Leiden University Joint scholarship Program 2012-2013

This scholarship is for Chinese PhD students, who will take a full PhD study or a period of PhD dissertation research at Leiden University. The CSC scholarship for a period of PhD dissertation research at Leiden University can on be applied for in the first round. All programs can be applied for, as long as the department/faculty/graduate school you’re applying to is willing to waive all tuition fees and research fees
