Research grants provide young foreign academics and scientists with an opportunity to carry out a research project or a course of continuing education and training at a German state (public) or state-recognised higher education institution or non-university research institute. Applications for DAAD research grants are open to excellently-qualified university graduates who hold a Diplom or Master's degree at the time they commence the grant-supported research and, in exceptional cases, graduates holding a Bachelor's degree or already holding a doctorate/PhD (post-docs)

Iran Heritage Foundation (IHF) Visiting Fellowship Programme at SOAS

The Centre for Iranian Studies (CIS) at the London Middle East Institute, SOAS invites applications for the Iran Heritage Foundation Visiting Fellowship Programme. Applicants will normally hold a PhD or equivalent and must demonstrate sufficient command of English to be able to take part in the academic life of SOAS. Their research may be in any discipline working on Iran. In the absence of teaching responsibilities, the fellows will be expected to participate fully in the academic and intellectual life of the Centre for Iranian Studies in particular and SOAS more generally, including giving occasional lectures and taking part in CIS academic conferences and seminars

DAAD 1-6-Month Research Grant for PhD Students, Postdocs, and Junior Academics

A limited number of short-term research grants are available to academics in Britain and Ireland to carry out research at universities, research institutes, libraries and archives in Germany. Applicants of all nationalities may apply, provided that the applicant is either currrently enrolled at a British/Irish university or has graduated from a British/Irish university no longer than two years ago and is still resident in the UK/Ireland. All applicants should be able to show that they possess the appropriate level of German to carry out their proposed research

Dan David Prize Scholarship for Doctoral and Postdoctoral Students, 2012

The Dan David Prize laureates annually donate twenty scholarships of US$15,000 each to outstanding doctoral and post-doctoral students of exceptional promise in the chosen fields. Ten scholarships are awarded to doctoral and post-doctoral students at universities throughout the world and ten scholarships at Tel Aviv University. The Dan David Prize is granted according to merit, without discrimination based on gender, race, religion, nationality, or political affiliation

This scheme is for scientists who want to develop a collaborative research project between the UK and research institutions in either Ghana or Tanzania. It aims to help develop and maintain excellence in science in both countries and to strengthen the research and training capacity of the African institution. The scheme provides 3 years funding towards research expenses and costs for mobility and equipment. The award lasts for three years
