Upon acceptance, the University of Pavia will:

  • Purchase a return economy ticket
  • Send an invitation letter to support the visa request (with possible contributions for visa issuance)
  • Provide a card for meals at university canteens
  • Arrange lodging at a university college in Pavia
  • Specify health and personal accident insurance policies
  • Pay the weekly contribution

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have at least two years of teaching or working experience with international institutions and organizations.
  • Scholarships are available for junior and senior faculty members at universities in developing countries, and those affiliated with significant research institutions or international organizations focused on development studies.
  • The scholarship is for short-term research collaboration; applicants enrolled in doctoral or postgraduate programs at an Italian university are ineligible.

Required Documents

  • Curriculum Vitae: Including a list of publications, ideally in European format (Filename: Surname_Name_CV).
  • Letter of Invitation: From the professor or researcher you plan to work with (Filename: Surname_Name_Letter).

Note: Applications without an invitation letter or a CV with the correct filename will not be considered. Ensure you have received the acceptance letter from a professor at the University of Pavia before applying.

Selection Criteria

  • The Committee will consider the following factors:
  • Scientific merit of the project, especially if it aligns with related initiatives at the University of Pavia
  • The candidate’s CV
  • Equitable allocation of grants among departments and applicants’ home regions

Preference is given to applicants:

  • From lower-income economies as per the World Bank list
  • Working for universities or institutions with existing cooperation agreements with the University of Pavia
  • Formally recommended by an Honorary Consul affiliated with UCOI and UCOIM associations with a cooperation agreement with the University of Pavia
