Excellence Scholarships by the Mexican Government for International Students 2024. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) of the Mexican government is offering Excellence Scholarships for International Students in 2024. These scholarships are available for various academic programs including specialty, Master’s, doctorate, Ph.D., postgraduate research, undergraduate, and student mobility programs in Mexico.
Administered by AMEXCID (Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation), these scholarships allow students from over 180 countries to study at more than 91 Mexican Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The program aims to showcase Mexico’s advancements in scientific and humanities fields and to enhance its global role by fostering high-level human capital development through international cooperation.
Benefits
These fully funded scholarships cover essential expenses:
- Monthly stipend: $13,202.12 for Master’s, Undergraduate Mobility Program, and Master’s level research; $16,502.65 for doctoral and postdoctoral research stays.
- Enrollment and tuition fees.
- Medical insurance through the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).
- Visa fee waiver.
- International airfare upon satisfactory program completion.
- National transportation reimbursement.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be nationals of one of the 180 eligible countries.
- Have a relevant degree (bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D.) for the desired program level.
- Register the application in Spanish.
- Have a minimum GPA of 80% in their most recent degree.
- Be admitted to a Mexican university listed in the scholarship program.
- Reside outside of Mexico at the time of application.
Ineligibility
The following are not eligible:
- Foreign diplomats accredited in Mexico and their families.
- Foreign nationals with Mexican nationality.
- Individuals with a Mexican visa for family unity.
- Previous recipients of any Federal Government Institution scholarship.
- Recipients of any scholarship from the Mexican government.
- Former AMEXCID grantees who have not completed the required gap period equivalent to the previous scholarship duration.
